Much of what sets me apart from many other diet and weight loss experts lies in my approach. I'm known as the BodySoul Balance Coach because I focus on both the physical and mental/emotional factors that greatly affect your overall health and happiness. And as part of that approach, unlike most diets want for you to do, I'm not going to tell you to drop everything today and immediately follow a new way of eating overnight because that won't get you where you want to be -- at least not the way you think. But let me explain ...
If you've struggled with dieting in the past (as I assume you are if you've read this far!), you're probably well-acquainted with cold-turkey dieting techniques that shock your system. I know from firsthand experience that small, but steady changes are the best way to make this way of eating “stick” and will get you to your goal of health and weight loss more effectively than trying to take the plunge into a new way of eating overnight, which often triggers a kneejerk "panic response" in our brains that sends us back to the foods and the lifestyle that got us to this point to begin with.

Key Factor #2:
I am not a registered dietician or medical professional, so I am not focused on a "medicalized" perspective on weight loss. In other words, some of what I share is not the mainstream approach of "eat more chicken and olive oil," which doesn't work to get you truly healthy. (And in fact, the diet that the American Heart Association prescribes doesn't actually cure heart disease either! So I don't go along with that common approach to eating that most dieticians take!)
Likewise, I also am opposed to the standard "take Alli (weight loss medication), statins (cholesterol-lowering drugs) and blood pressure medication" approach that most U.S. doctors recommend. None of those things will get you healthier and happier, and none of them teach you the best possible way to lose weight, get healthy and feel better than you've ever had in your life.
I also won't recommend you take any crazy diet pills (though I'll be happy to share which very few supplements I take personally to make sure all nutritional bases are covered) or recommend dangerous techniques of any kind.
Instead, I am an experienced coach who understands human psychology, behavior and how to get the best results from the least amount of effort -- ideal for a busy mom who needs all the breaks you can get, right? Though I opened the doors of my nutrition and life balance coaching practice in 2008, I've been mentoring and coaching others professionally since 2001.
As your coach, I am committed to helping you take the actions that optimally get you to your goals for your body, your soul, your life. It is my greatest joy and passion to help you achieve YOUR passions! And I'll refer you to the physicians I trust most if I discover that you need medical attention at any time.
My entire focus is on what you eat, why you eat what you eat, how physically active you are, your relationships, how you spend your time, how happy you are in other areas of your life and all the other, non-medical lifestyle factors that contribute to your weight, health and overall sense of well-being. Unlike many fitness and wellness pros out there who've always loved working out, eating right and all that healthy stuff, I had quite the opposite life for 30 years before discovering that I *had* to change or else I'd continue to gain weight and have very poor health.

In fact, back when I got started losing weight, I have to admit I didn't know anyone -- not one person -- interested in or actively pursuing a healthy lifestyle. I'd never been exposed to healthy eating in all my life. I'd never worked out regularly except one summer when I played high school volleyball, and that was a real strain for me due to health problems I didn't even know I had at the time. And I have been 50+ lbs. overweight, 30 lbs. overweight, 10 lbs. overweight, and everything in between, and I've felt as helpless and hopeless as perhaps you have about your own weight problems.
